Project overview
The idea coming to life
The goal is to bring together downtown’s creative entities to collaborate on shared objectives that elevate the arts to a prominent position in a thriving Loop. We will welcome residents from all our neighborhoods and attract visitors from far and wide.

Concept and approach
Our scope
The Loop Arts Festival is a new citywide initiative celebrating the creative energy of downtown Chicago. Launching in Fall 2026 as a pilot and expanding in 2027, the festival will bring together the Loop’s diverse arts organizations with the vibrant cultural life of the neighborhoods to strengthen Chicago’s identity and connect residents, visitors, and tourists alike. How might we create a unified, dynamic festival experience that showcases the Loop’s diverse arts and cultural assets, supports existing organizations, and positions the district as a must-visit cultural destination for residents, suburban visitors, and tourists?

Conclusion and findings
Recommendations for execution
With emphasis on making the festival as easy, accessible, and community centered as possible––we proposed recommendations on what would help the festival be most successful, backed by our interviewee insights. This included location, art activations, potential partnerships, what the brand identity should encapsulate, mobile & web demos, and suggested programming and activities.
